Reviews for Mount Eden Estate Chardonnay 1981
93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - July/August 1998
Pale yellow-gold color. Knockout aromas of lemon, truffle, cinnamon, smoke and earth, plus a leesy complexity. Rich and spicy in the mouth, with the leesy quality repeating. Lovely lemony acidity gives the fruit delineation and verve. Penetrating and full of life. Shockingly fresh for a 17-year-old California chardonnay.
The Underground Wine Journal - July 1988
Medium light yellow in color, this wine has a perfumed nose of seductive spice and butterscotch. A medium-weight, rounded wine, with slight butterscotch flavors and some spice; slightly citric, and with acidity, like a white Burgundy. A lovely, fleshy wine. 18 Outstanding
