Reviews for Mount Eden Estate Pinot Noir 1987
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - July 1990
Deep, ripe, complex and richly oaked, the nose of this fully stuffed wine smells of cherries, roasted grains, rooty spices and even hints at a tobaccoey, cigar box element. Perhaps a little more direct on the palate owing to the wine’s fairly evident sweet oak and the ripeness of its flavors, this generous package comes in a medium-full-bodied, supple, but noticeably tannic wrapping. Give it up to a half dozen years to soften and enjoy it with rich, well-seasoned meats or even game dishes.
