Tasting Notes
Release Date: Fall 1990
This vintage, 1987, yielded an extremely rich and concentrated Pinot Noir dominated by compelling black cherry and strawberry flavors and the signature gout of Mount Eden. Produced, as always, from our 47-year-old vineyard yielding a precious 3/4 ton per acre. The ’87 is comparable to the outstanding 1985 vintage yet with more power and grip. Indeed, one would have to go back to the 1980 to recall a similar weight and structure.
This wine was aged 20 months in new burgundy barrels then bottled unfiltered to preserve all the nuances. You can expect improvement in the bottle into 1992
